Cell Phone Disagreement

by Brian

Cell phones are being used so much that researchers say that people are forgetting to talk face to face. I think it is not true because some of the ordinary cell phone users don’t use them the whole 24 hours of the day. Second reason is because people with cell phones usually will talk to at least 5 people or more throughout the day. Teens with cell phones have school so they won’t be using their devices in the middle of the day.
In the beginning of the day when a cell phone user wakes up they will often check their phone for any messages or calls. Then they get up and get ready for school. If their riding the bus and their friend(s) don’t show up the user will end up using their phone the whole ride. If their friend(s) do show up the user will end up talking to them the whole ride to school. So in this case the cell phone user is talking face to face with the friend. At school he/she can’t use the device unless given permission by a staff member at the school. The user has no choice of communicating face to face. School is only about 6-7 hours of the 24 hours of the day. At the end of school the user takes the bus home and will likely use the device the whole trip that is only half hour. When he/she gets home they would have dinner and then homework. Afterwards the cell phone user has to get ready for bed. The average bedtime for a cell phone user is 9:30. So this will leave them 3 ½ hours to use the device in one whole day.
An average user will communicate with 5 or more people using face to face contact during the day. In the morning the user will always make contact with one family member or more. If the cell phone user goes to school on a bus and has friends on the bus ride to, it is likely that that he/she will rather talk to friends then use the device. At school the cell phone user will talk to more friends and at least two teachers. The bus ride home will be more time to talk to friends. At home the user ends up talking to mom or anybody else at home. Dinner time the family could have a conversation. Bed time the day is complete and there is no communicating in the night.
At school some days the teachers will let you use the device you have for some amount of time. But most of the time you are never allowed to use your cell phones at any time of school hours.
This is why I don’t agree with the agreement of people forgetting to talk face to face.
